Behind the scenes, Red Shed Vintage Market, What you didn't see!

Those of you who "do Vintage shows" know the secret....
Behind the pretty displays....

and the fabulous furniture.....

lies an evil truth.
If you you set up outside, no matter HOW pretty your space is....
You are at the mercy of (God and) the weather. Even in Texas. Even in July. Even in a week that not a drop of rain is predicted. The 5 day set up and hauling of the furniture may not get you down. The late nights might not get you down. The 100 degree weather may not get you down. But in one 15 second (micro) burst, tents and displays that had been "just so", can go from this.....
to this....
 and from this.....
to this....
yes, that is vintage china smashed to bits on the ground...
so SORRY, I didn't get a photo of the (very expensive, vintage) HEAD of the mannequin rolling on the ground behind the chair...
What do you do? Cry? Laugh? (take photos?).... or put on your big girl panties, gather your 4 best friends...(will we ever get a photo of us that is both cute AND in focus??)
Val, Michele, Gayle & GiGi (can Survive Anything!!)
pick everything up and just keep going (and be thankful we "only" lost 1 of the three mirrors?)
In the end, its all worth it because of YOU, our sweet and faith filled customers and friends. To see you smile and enjoying what has been created for you.

Thanks again to our wonderful Guest Stars.... Carolyn Westbrook
It definitely takes a village (of Awesome Women!) to create a great show AND overcome anything!

    1. Thanks, Lori! I think we are too close to DFW airport, where every weather phenomenon occurs!

  3. Oh my GOSH! I think that is EXACTLY why we (my sisters and I) haven't been brave enough to do shows!
The caption on the mannequin made me laugh....I hope you all could laugh in the end.

    1. Thanks for your kind thoughts, Rita. I that's why "inside" shows are always a little more pricey... Peace of Mind!

  4. You're preachin' to the choir Sister Woman! Everything you said is 100% true. Setting up outside in Texas is a roll of the dice...reagardless of the season. 'Course manys the time my big girl panties were in the wash and I had meltdowns instead!
Everything looks beautiful especially what's gathered in that last photo.
