Cindy's Camp ~ Cottage meets Kitsch ~ A Loft Becomes a Home

Many times our customers will come back to the shop, just beaming because they found a perfect piece at the Red Shed. They will say "Oh, its just wonderful, you should see it!" We always ask them to send us some photos, but life is busy, and time is so short. Well, our dear new friend Cindy Camp, did us one better and invited us to see her new loft apartment where many Red Shed treasures have gone to live.

Cindy and her husband Mike just moved to Grapevine a few months ago, and shortly after, Cindy found out she needed surgery. She realized that friends and family would be visiting and staying in their new loft. As she put it " It went from bare walls, to what you see in about two weeks" .

Well, we can't imagine what Cindy could do if she had a few months! She is just one of those designers who has a great eye for purchases and a whimsical sense of style. She purchased many of the items shown online, sight unseen! We hope you enjoy the tour as much as we did.

The den/music room has the saying from the first photo on the wall, made from this entire set of marquee letters.

The entire apartment has high, high ceilings with exposed duct work. All the better to show collections above the kitchen cabinets.

Love the pumpkins on a vintage plant stand, perfect in the middle of her distressed black farm table.

Adorable vignettes around every corner,

This is my absolute favorite. How many of us would have passed on this fabulously kitschy red lamp, yet it looks to perfect mixed with a vintage needlepoint and deer antlers!

Oh the bedroom, we could have curled right up for a nap, if it weren't for all of the interesting collections in every corner.

Interesting objects throughout the house, kept us on our toes.

and I almost had a heart attack when I saw this periodic table in FRENCH! Weighs almost 300 pounds and her DH hung it while she was in the hospital (and only got a "little bit" of blood on the wall)!

Paris Apartment Chic Sofa finds it's family, Truth or Fiction?

We have all been shaking our heads over this lovely Paris Apartment Chic living room set that is featured right now at the Red Shed. How it came together is just a little unbelievable.


Valarie and Michele M. found the couch at a little shop in another city. We initially didn't buy it though really, everything about it was perfect, Red Shed "Cottage Chic".

It had a gorgeous dark gray pantina. Heavy, solid wood, beautiful carving and just the right amount of shabby. Most of the caning is perfect and the center section of caning is shaped like a heart.

Why didn't we buy it? I don't know, really heavy, didn't have the truck with us, we were in a hurry.... Anyway, it was just one of those things that we lost sleep over. After about a week I went to M.M. and said, look I am losing sleep over that great couch, and she said, Me too! We called the shop, gave her a credit card over the phone and arranged for pick up.
The next time Michele Jones came to the Red Shed, she took a look at the sofa and her jaw dropped. "Oh no! Do you hate it?"
She just started laughing and said she had the rocker and chair that matched the set exactly, and had kept them in her home for years because she loved them so much, and was not ready to part with them.
Both pieces need the caning redone, but she was right! They are a matching set!

So what do you think? Were they meant to be back together?
The fabulous sofa is only $399.00 and each of the chairs are offered at $100.00 each...as is.

MJ says that if she gets the energy to do the re-caning, she will just buy the sofa and keep the whole set!

Reinvented French Chic Furniture Collection

Only one week until our HUGE Saturday Sale at the Red Shed in Grapevine Texas, on August 23rd! Here is a sneak peek at a few items that will be displayed from our "Reinvented French Chic Furniture Collection". We have been keeping these (and more!) under wraps, and they will only be available at the Saturday Sale. All of these items are made from French Documents that we purchased in Paris during our Paris Flea Market Group Shopping Trip in April. (Don't forget to let us know if you want to join us in 2009!)

Here is a fabulous dress form / pants form/ mannequin ** Only from the waste down....No Butts about it!. The form has been covered with vintage French documents...

The stand moves up and down to change the height. How fun would it be to have this to pin your jewelry on (its foam under the pants), tuck letters or postcards in the waste, or just to look adorable in the corner of your Paris Apartment? What a conversation piece!


The top is covered with French documents. The main center document is from a 1800s Corset company.



The leg bottoms are covered in antique French book pages.Here is a wonderful full size bed. The insets have be infused with a mosaic of vintage French letters, including postal stamps. It will be beautiful with a tea stained bed spread.


Here are some close ups of the insets, They really are awesome and were awesomely (is that a word?) hard to make! Once again, I wish I had done "before" photos.

This great mirror was made from an old door, I imagine from an old armoire. Some of the silvering had worn off. French Perfume company documents are fused from the back and now peak through the mirror.It's REALLY cute!

This mirror has antique french book pages adhered to the corners, and has a cute little shelf on the bottom. The book is actually a hand written journal that was published "as is".

Here is a wonderful, shabby tray covered with French documents. It would look just as great on a dresser or table as it would as an art piece on the wall.

There will be many more darling things at our Saturday Sale, in the collection. Some made with vintage music, and more jewelry and crystals.
